HoteL Grand Central is the front-running hotel chain of Hotel Grand Central Limited in Singapore. The Hotel Grand Central Company manages different chains all over Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand as well. The company was incorporated on the 13th of June in 1968. Ten years after that, the company made it to the Singapore Stock Exchange. Hotel Grand Central is the founding hotel of the company - the model and standard setter for every other success that came next since for the company. The Hotel Grand Central was built under the late Tan Chee Hoe’s supervision. He was working with his son Tan EngTeong at that time. Tan EngTeong is now the Chaiman of the board of the entire group.
In the early 1990s, the group started extending its hospitality in Australia and New Zealand. They bought properties in Sydney, Australia and Wellington, New Zealand as initial foundations for such international expansion. In 1995, the group was able to acquire more properties in the two countries as their first seeds bore fruits quite sooner than expected. The group now currently has a portfolio consisting of 11 hotels. The Malaysian expansion is relatively new but is rapidly growing as well. There is definitely more for this brand when it comes to global competition.
